NUCIFERA
The Collection was developed during a product design residency at Maison N’Zima in Grand-Bassam, Ivory Coast, curated by Jean Servais Somian, where time spent observing local fishermen became central to the design process.
Along the coastline, coconut trees are used daily as improvised structures to secure boats and display the catch of the day, their trunks gradually shaped by ropes, weight, and repeated gestures. What initially appeared as an unusual natural form revealed itself as a quiet record of resilience and resourcefulness. These organic imprints, accumulated over time, formed the foundation of the collection, with the first series translating the subtle marks left on the coconut trees into forms that carry both material memory and cultural significance.
Rooted in observation and shaped by everyday actions, the NUCIFERA Collection reflects a dialogue between place, gesture, and design, where objects emerge as contemporary interpretations of lived practices.
